14 lucky people in the US and Canada will win free Starbucks for life in the form of a $5,000 gift card made of pure gold

What would you be more excited about? A 10-karat gold gift card, or free lattes?

Earlier this fall, we reported that Starbucks was announcing the contests of all contests: free Starbucks for life. From now until January 5, customers who pay for their daily Starbucks fix using a Starbucks card or the Starbucks app have the chance to win a $5,000, 10-karat gold Starbucks gift card engraved with the winner’s name, which equates to “free Starbucks for life” (or 30 years, if you buy a grande drink every day). customers and four Canadian customers will get this golden opportunity. It’s like an extra-caffeinated Willy Wonka golden ticket search.

For those of us without that much luck on our side, there will also be thousands of other small prizes given out during the holiday season, like free snacks and beverages.

“Starbucks for Life is truly the ultimate gift of the season, and we are thrilled to make that a reality for a special group of Starbucks customers. And, the prizes will keep coming throughout the holiday season with more than 482,000 instant winners,” said Sharon Rothstein, Starbucks’ global chief marketing officer.
